Here’s our weekly roundup:
Get ready for a sea of red at Marienplatz this Sunday. FC Bayern München is celebrating their Bundesliga championship on the city hall balcony. And yes, the whole squad will be there, trophy in hand. You’ll want to claim your spot early. Expect crowds, chants, and plenty of beer-fueled joy as the city turns into one big party.

3 bits of news
Yellow bins are coming
It's official. Starting in 2027, Munich will roll out the yellow bin system across the city, ditching the old drop-off points that were, let’s be honest, kind of a pain.
No more squeezing oversized plastic packaging into too-small slots.
After a pilot in six districts, including Allach and Schwabing, the results were clear: more recycling, less mess. We talked about the pilot project in an older newsletter: https://www.themunichpost.de/p/321-time-dance
Locals loved the convenience and the city saw cleaner streets and higher recycling rates.
The yellow bin will make it easier for everyone to separate plastic and metal packaging. The bins will be picked up right outside your door, no extra fees are expected.
Stay tuned, the Munich City Council will make its final decision on June 5.

Integration through culture
This week, something special happened at the Maximilianeum.
The 2025 Bavarian Integration Prize was handed out to three standout projects that are using art and culture to make real connections between communities and it’s a big deal.
Out of 107 entries, only three groups took home the honors, and two of them are based right here in Munich.
The big winner?
KulturBunt Neuperlach, snagged the €4,000 first prize for their work bringing locals and immigrants together through creative events. Also recognized: Theaterlabor Nürnberg and Musicians for a Better Life, whose projects use theater and music to build bridges, not barriers.
State Parliament President Ilse Aigner nailed it: “Participation is integration.” When people, no matter where they’re from, have space to share stories, traditions and creativity, they feel like they belong.

Thinking about leaving Germany?
We’ve all had those days, missed trains, sky-high rent, bureaucracy or just that nagging itch for something different. If the idea of packing up and starting fresh somewhere else has crossed your mind lately, you’re definitely not alone.
A recent YouGov survey found nearly half of all Germans have thought about emigrating.
To help you figure out where you should actually go, Stern magazine launched the “Auswander-O-Mat”—a short, free quiz that matches your lifestyle with ideal countries.
It takes just 13 questions to get personalized results based on your goals, whether you’re a digital nomad, a family with school-aged kids, or dreaming of beach life in retirement.

Meet Adriana from Tastefully Munich and Garibaldi, our event host
Let us share a little bit about Adriana and her secret Munich tips.
So Adriana, who are you and where are you from?
“Hi, thank you so much for this time together. My name is Adriana, and I’m originally from Costa Rica. I spent several years in the South Pacific and then the U.S. before moving to Germany. I’ve now been in Munich for 13 years. I came here, married, and life completely changed after that.”
After taking time off to raise her daughter, Adriana decided to return to the workforce — and found a new passion in wine. She pursued sommelier certifications, dove deep into the wine world, and built a career in Munich’s wine industry. Today, she hosts curated wine events for the professional English-speaking community in the city.
What’s the best part of Munich in your opinion?
“It’s the lifestyle. I love how outdoorsy the city is — the English Garden, the lakes, the proximity to the Alps. As a cyclist, it's paradise. I also really appreciate that Munich has a growing international scene but still feels manageable and human-sized.”
Favorite restaurant in Munich?
“One of my go-tos is Bindas — the Indian street food place. I love the variety and the casual, fun vibe. Another place I recently discovered is Monte Monaco, an Italian spot with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Isar. It’s elegant, and I’m thinking of hosting a dressy event there — something that calls for heels and a great outfit.”
Aazar & Arlene from our team will also be there.
