Political turbulence has hit Germany as Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s coalition government unexpectedly collapsed today, just one day after Donald Trump’s presidential victory. Scholz dismissed his finance minister, Christian Linder, marking the end of the three-way alliance between the SDP, Greens and the FDP. Now leading a minority government, Scholz faces a daunting task to secure enough parliamentary support and avoid elections, which could happen as soon as March.

Parents, take note—Munich’s one-day adventure trips for the Christmas holidays are here.
Starting Saturday, November 9 at 10am, you can grab tickets for a variety of fun excursions for kids ages 5 to 14. From pony rides and puppet theaters to bowling and trampoline parks, these day trips are designed to keep young adventurers busy while adding a bit of holiday sparkle to the season.
Tickets are available through München Ticket, either online, by phone at 54 81 8181, or in person at ticket offices across the city. And don’t forget—the Munich Holiday Pass or Family Pass is required for entry.
What’s on the Holiday Program?
For ages 5–8:
Pony Rides and Sledding: Spend the day at a pony farm, then hop on a sled!
Firefighter Experience: Hands-on fun with fire-extinguishing activities.
Augsburger Puppenkiste: Peek behind the scenes at a classic puppet show.
For ages 7–10:
Chocolate Factory Tour: From cocoa bean to chocolate bar, with plenty of tasting.
Badria Adventure Pool: Dive in for a day of water slides and splashes.
For ages 10–14:
Phoenix Bath: Water slides, diving towers, and a heated pool.

Trampoline & Schloss Schleißheim: Bounce around in a trampoline park with a royal twist.
New Self-determination act
November 1, Munich residents can make changes to their gender entry and first names without the hurdles of previous laws.
This new Self-Determination Act replaces the older, much more complicated Transsexual Act and aims to make life a lot easier for transgender, intersex, and non-binary individuals.
Thanks to some solid prep work from Munich’s registry offices, the staff are ready to handle appointments, guiding you through every step smoothly.
Flo B., one of the first to benefit, described her experience as “easy” and the registry staff as “fantastic.” So, if you’re ready for this change, the door is open.
Who Needs What?
Adults: Just bring your ID and relevant documents like birth or marriage certificates.
Minors (under 14): Legal guardians will need to be involved, with proof of custody or guardianship.
Teens (14 and older): Teens can make the declaration themselves with a guardian’s consent.
Foreign Nationals: You’re eligible if you meet specific residency requirements.

1 new restaurant/café to try
LYFE
For those craving a healthy fix near the Viktualienmarkt, LYFE Café might just be the spot. With açai bowls, avocado sandwiches, and even pink hummus wraps, the menu has all the health-conscious treats you could ask for.
But here’s the catch: it’s not exactly fast food. Waiting is part of the deal—especially on weekends—so plan to give your name and relax until they call you. But trust us, the açai bowl and the salmon bagel are worth a little patience.
Expect health-focused eats like chicken wraps, veggie-bowls, and smoothies. LYFE’s matcha drinks are also crowd-pleasers.
For a perfect start to the day, grab a cappuccino and settle into LYFE’s clean, minimalist vibe—ideally with a little extra time in hand.
