Summer streets return

Munich’s summer streets are back, and they're better than ever! Starting this past Monday, June 24, three select streets were transformed into traffic-calmed zones perfect for walking, sitting and playing. These areas will be open until the end of October, and there's plenty of free activities to enjoy.

This year’s summer streets will be at Isartorplatz, Drächslstraße, and Schöttlstraße, offering a cozy and calm atmosphere. Opening parties are planned for each location, bringing the community together to kick off the season with a bang. Expect to see fun events like games, art, and mobility activities organized by local groups.

Where and When:

Isartorplatz (Altstadt-Lehel): Between Thierschstraße and Kanalstraße. Open now. Party on Friday, July 12 at 2pm (Rain date: Friday, July 26)

Drächslstraße (Au-Haidhausen): West of Senftlstraße. Open now. Party on Wednesday, July 3 at 4pm (Rain date: Thursday, July 8)

Schöttlstraße (Sendling): Between Fallstraße and Leipartstraße. Opens Wednesday, July 3. Party on Wednesday, July 17 at 4pm (Rain date: Wednesday, July 24)

These streets will be decorated with planters, flowers, palm trees and seating, creating a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the summer vibes. So grab your friends and family and go see how these spaces transform into community hubs.

Children’s games on the street are possible in traffic-calmed areas - check out this flyer for inspiration.

OB Reiter's task force success

Let's take a moment to appreciate the positive changes in our city. Mayor Dieter Reiter is proud to announce the first tangible results of the Hauptbahnhof Task Force, which he initiated almost two months ago to improve the Bahnhofsviertel area. With rising offenses, especially in the Old Botanical Garden, and neglected spaces like Galeria Kaufhof and Karstadt, action was needed.

From massive tree pruning for better visibility to new powerful LED lights, the Old Botanical Garden is now safer and more inviting. Unused benches and tables have been removed to deter unwanted activity, and cleaning schedules have doubled to keep the area pristine. Plus, new police video surveillance at the Neptune Fountain is helping to keep the peace.

But it’s not just about safety. Revitalization efforts include cultural and gastronomic offerings at the Neptune Fountain and Karl-Stützel-Platz starting this July. From a cultural beer garden to non-alcoholic drink stands.

The Department of Education and Sports is also introducing free activities like children’s game afternoons and Silent Disco Groove dance fitness sessions.

Future plans are just as exciting. Proposals include a new skate facility, a streetball court, and a small playing field to encourage active use of public spaces. These improvements aim to breathe new life into the Munich’s Central Station and Old Botanical Garden, making them places where people want to linger and enjoy.

The government recommends private pensions, but there must be a simpler way to understand this.

This was a project where I had to photograph what “love” meant to me. So I booked a mixture of ten couples, back-to-back, and shot them over the course of one day. With the exception of a 6-light set-up, the shoot was stripped down because I wanted the focus of the photographs to be on the couples themselves. There was a lot of love in my studio that day! ; )

Hey folks! This is Aazar. I recently learned that if you make above €69K in salary, you could save money on taxes by opting for a private pension.

Plus, I calculated that I need 50% more when I retire, and a government pension isn’t enough.

The problem? It’s kind of confusing. For example, there are many pension systems, such as Private, Riester, and Rürup pensions. Should I add ETFs or not? Should it be flexible or not?

If you’re also considering a private pension, I invite you to join this webinar. We’re inviting Feather’s CEO to take my use case and help us understand how it works. How can we save on taxes with it? If you have any burning questions, bring them on.

Party through 40 glamourous years at Club P1

Since 1950, P1 has transformed from a humble atelier restaurant into one of Germany’s hottest nightspots. From Whitney Houston’s first European concert to epic parties where fake D-Mark bills rained down on Tina Turner, P1 has seen it all.

1 new restaurant/café to try

Ruffini

Ruffini, the modern café at Orffstraße 22-24, is the perfect place to satisfy your sweet tooth and caffeine cravings.

Ruffini is not just a café; it’s a local favorite that’s always buzzing with regulars. Despite the hustle and bustle, the spacious interior and street-side seating ensure you won’t have to wait long for a table. The coffee, served with a delightful cantuccini, and the house-baked goods, like their delicious cheesecake, are absolutely worth it.
