Here’s our weekly roundup:

Ready for another long weekend? There is another public holiday next Monday, May 20. Be prepared for some serious traffic jams especially on Friday, Saturday and Monday. ADAC is expecting heavy congestion on the A9 and A99. So plan accordingly.

Heads up, we have a long bonus news this time.

3 bits of news

How fair is your district?

How fair is our city really when it comes to getting around? A new map from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) shines a light on some surprising—and sometimes troubling—insights into mobility across our beloved city.

Divided into 108 districts, this mobility justice map reveals where people are particularly disadvantaged. From the availability of basic services like food and health facilities to the accessibility of public transport.

The color-coded map shows the most disadvantaged areas in red and the least in dark blue. Did you know that single parents are one of the most affected groups when it comes to mobility?

This map isn’t just a pretty visualization; it’s a tool for sparking important discussions and making real changes. It’s no secret that Munich faces a housing shortage, but did you know that mobility accessibility plays a big part in it? This disparity can lead to overcrowding in the best-connected districts and a lack of available apartments as this recent viral reel shows.

By identifying where mobility improvements are needed, we can push for a fairer, more accessible Munich.

Watch out for Tiger Mosquitoes

Have you spotted a small, striped mosquito buzzing around during the day? You might be dealing with the Asian tiger mosquito. This pesky invader has made its way to our city.

Originally from Southeast Asia, the Asian tiger mosquito thrives in urban environments and can be a real nuisance with its aggressive daytime biting. Worse, it can carry diseases like chikungunya, dengue, and Zika fever. Currently there is nothing to worry because it is highly unlikely that the diseases will spread.

These mosquitoes lay eggs in small amounts of standing water, so make sure to empty plant saucers, clean rain gutters, and cover water containers.

Party in a Bank Vault

Bossy, the latest club sensation, has just opened its doors in a rather unique location—a former bank safe in Munich's old town.

Located at Löwengrube 18, Bossy is the brainchild of Angelo Mattina, a nightlife aficionado with big dreams. He’s transformed the former Tresor Club into a sleek, modern disco with a twist. You’ll find LED-lit walls and Instagram-worthy pink rose decorations.

With its grand opening on Saturday May 4 and a special rooftop party on Sunday May 5, it was the perfect time to see what all the buzz is about.

1 new restaurant/café to try

Saravanaa Bhavan

Let us introduce you to Saravanaa Bhavan—our absolute favorite spot for the only authentic spice-packed South-Indian food in all of Munich. The spice level here is the real deal – true Indian level spice. (If you disagree we would love to hear your suggestions.)

This place is a gem for anyone who loves Indian food – especially South Indian food. If you think you can handle real Indian spice, you’ve got to try their Mysore Masala Dosa — it’s spicy enough to make you break a sweat.

If you’re not up for the heat, don’t worry. They have plenty of other dosa options, each crispy and crackley, perfect for dipping in sambar. Or their cute mini-idli options with a side of filter-coffee. And to wrap up your meal, don’t miss out on the Rava kesari—it’s a sweet, satisfying finish that’ll leave you doing the happy dance.

Unfortunately, they're not open in the mornings and their brunch on weekends is so popular you might have to wait in a long line. It is definitely worth it though.

We’re already planning our next visit to try their Thali—if it’s anything like the rest of their menu, it’s going to be amazing.
