3 bits of news
Beat the heat

When the summer sun turns up the heat in Munich, we’ve got just the thing to help you keep your cool—literally. Introducing a brand-new interactive map of cool spots across the city.
Brought to you by the health department, this map isn’t just another boring city guide—it’s your go-to for finding shady parks, refreshing lakes, and even chill spots inside churches.
Oh, and don’t forget to stay hydrated! The map also highlights public drinking water fountains and toilets with drinking water dispensers.
Weißenburger Straße goes car-free
Starting Monday, August 12, Weißenburger Straße in Au-Haidhausen is going car-free in a one-year test phase to see how we will enjoy a pedestrian paradise.
The street has been transformed with planters and comfy seating. Cyclists and e-scooter riders can join the fun but must keep it slow—pedestrians have the right of way. Deliveries are allowed only during specific times, and those needing access for mobility reasons can apply for special permits.
This change is part of a test phase to see if turning Weißenburger Straße into a pedestrian haven can improve the area’s vibe and make it more enjoyable for everyone.
Surprise yourself
Who doesn't love a good surprise? You've probably seen the mystery machines full of undeliverable packages that people can't get enough of. And guess what? The hype has finally hit Munich.
Now, nestled in the heart of the Pasing Arcadian, right on the ground floor near the food court, you'll find your very own MysteryBox machine.
For just 15 euros, you can grab a package—big or small—and see what kind of treasure awaits inside.
Who knows? You might just stumble upon something amazing—or at least have a good laugh at the randomness of it all. Be sure to let us know what you find.
BONUS:
It is our desire to bring our readers the best information about Munich — at zero cost to you. In keeping with this theme, we thank our sponsors for today’s newsletter. By clicking on the link below, you’re supporting this newsletter.
Looking for a job in Germany but can’t get one?
If you’ve applied for over 100 jobs and sent your CV to everyone, and you might have even gotten to the final round but didn’t make it, then this is for you.
It’s hard to get an English-speaking job in Germany: Too many expats compete for the same positions. This is why you need to apply to those who ARE hiring. This is the philosophy of Immigrant Spirit.
They teach you:
How to find the managers behind the job offers, and how to connect with those managers in a way that makes sense in German business culture.
How to get the decision maker on the phone.
How to structure phone conversations in your favor; so you can discover the managers biggest challenge, and prove your ability to solve it.
How to secure a job interview.
How to structure a job interview so you take control.
How to negotiate the best salary based on what you're worth.
There are only 8 spots per cohort, and only 6 spots are left. If you’re serious about getting a job in the next 3 months, this is worth an investment in your future.

Dig for your dinner
Ready to get your hands dirty?
Forget the supermarket—this is how you get potatoes fresh from the field.
Just head over to Brodersenstraße, right at the corner of Kunihohstraße in Daglfing on the east side of Munich. There you’ll spot the potato field, where all the magic happens.
But first, swing by the stand to grab your potato sack:
Large bag (12.5 kg) for €13
Small bag (5 kg) for €7
Then, head to the field where the tractors have already done most of the heavy lifting. All that’s left is for you to collect your chosen spuds and take them home.
Pro tip:
Don’t forget to bring cash. Unfortunately, card payments won’t fly in the field.

Looking for a place where the whole family can let loose, bounce around and maybe even conquer a 3D blacklit mini-golf course? Say hello to the all-in-one MAXX Arena—Munich’s largest indoor adventure parks, now conveniently located in Kirchheim and Gröbenzell. And yes, they’re air-conditioned, so no sweaty brows here!
There are trampolines, bouldering walls and even a laser maze that’ll make you feel like you're in a spy movie.
Pro tip: Book online to save an extra €1 per person. You’re welcome.
If you’re more into sipping coffee and watching the action from the sidelines, you’re in luck too. Spectators can chill in the bistro/lounge area without paying the entrance fee. But be sure to check the age restrictions and supervision requirements if you’re tagging along with little ones.
