3 bits of news
Night subways coming soon

Munich's new MVG service program is here to save the day—or night! Starting this December, our beloved subway lines will be running all night on weekends and before public holidays.
Along with extended subway hours, the U3 and tram 12 are getting a timetable boost, and bus line 57 will have more frequent trips to Freiham. These changes mean better, more reliable public transport options for everyone, especially students heading to newly opened schools.
Of course, there’s a bit of a trade-off. The night buses will be running less frequently, making way for the night subways.

Catch some waves near Munich Airport

The new o2 surf park in Hallbergmoos, near Munich Airport, is finally here! After two years of construction, this wave wonderland known as Surftown will open with a two-day festival in August.
With a 180-meter-long pool and waves every ten seconds, you'll find everything from gentle ripples to almost two-meter-high waves. Up to 60 surfers can hit the waves at a time.
The surf park isn’t just about catching waves. There's a restaurant, sunbathing areas, a shop and even a grandstand that seats 300 spectators.
Mark your calendars for the opening festival weekend, August 10-11.

Alcohol-free beer garden opens
Munich is raising a glass – or rather, a non-alcoholic one – to its first booze-free beer garden. Say hello to Die Null, located between Hauptbahnhof and the Old Botanical Garden at Karl-Stützel-Platz. Opening today (July 18), Die Null is set to quench your thirst with a variety of non-alcoholic drinks.
This new spot will host cultural events, featuring bands, choirs, solo artists and dancers.
Why the shift?
Germany’s relationship with alcohol is changing. Beer sales dropped 4.2% in 2023, continuing a longer trend. Health concerns and rising costs are leading many to cut back on booze.
