3 bits of news
Pedal your way through scenic Bavaria
The MVV Bike Rallies are back, offering cycling enthusiasts two new picturesque routes through the MVV network districts.
The first route is a 45-kilometer journey starting in Holzkirchen, winding its way through stunning landscapes towards Gmund. The second is a more demanding route—56 kilometers with 670 meters of altitude—from Grafing Bahnhof to Aying, passing through several nature preserves and historic sites along the way.
Both routes offer plenty of spots to stop, take in the scenery, and answer some fun trivia questions.
Link to the route planner can be found here, and here (in German) you can find relevant information.
Fall's tastiest (and trickiest) treasure hunt

As summer waves goodbye, Germany's forests quietly prepare for their next act—mushroom season!
Now, before you dash off to the nearest forest with dreams of a foraged feast, let’s get real: mushroom picking isn’t for the faint of heart. Germany’s woods are full of fungi—some delicious, some deadly.
But don’t let that scare you away from enjoying these forest delicacies. Your safest bet? Visit a local farmer’s market, where edible varieties like Steinpilze, Maronenpilze and Pfifferlinge are available without the risk of ending up with a toxic twin.
For those feeling adventurous, mushroom counseling centers reopened in Munich on August 19 (through October 21). Swing by with your haul, and experts will help you sort the scrumptious from the sinister.

A crash course on Oktoberfest

In a matter of weeks, you'll be sharing the city with six million revelers on their way to the world's biggest beer festival. But before you don your Lederhosen or Dirndl, there are a few things you should know to make sure your Oktoberfest experience is as epic as the event itself.
Oktoberfest is all about the beer tents and each one has its own vibe. Looking for a wild time with a younger crowd? Head to the Hacker-Festzelt. Want something more traditional and family-friendly? Augustiner is your spot. And if you're here to party with locals and tourists alike, Hofbräu or Löwenbräu will deliver.
Pro tip: Try a few tents before settling in—they all offer something unique.
Not that Oktoberfest Bier isn't amazing (so fresh and with up to 6% alcohol), but Oktoberfest has a lot more to offer. There are dozens of amusement rides (definitely ride before drinking), a massive Ferris wheel with stunning views, and even a section called Oide Wiesn, where you can enjoy Bavarian culture with traditional music, costumes, dancing and old-school rides.

Champor
Tucked away in one of Munich’s quieter corners, Champor is the city’s only Malaysian restaurant—and it’s been delighting spice lovers for more than 20 years! If you’re ready to explore a culinary world that’s as colorful and vibrant as its dishes, then this is your next stop.
At Champor, when they say “spicy,” they mean it. But don’t worry—the friendly team is always on hand to guide you through the menu. Try the Ayam Kicap in Malaysia, which in Mayasian translates into soy sauce chicken. Buttered prawns, rojak mama, caramelized beef, and ayam percik are all great hits.
