3 bits of news

Easy German news for all

Let's dive into something equally exciting—Tagesschau's latest initiative. Germany’s beloved news program has just launched Tagesschau in Einfacher Sprache (in simplified language). This new show is designed to be more inclusive, breaking down complex news into more easily understandable segments.

Broadcasting from Hamburg, the show airs Monday to Friday at 7pm on tagesschau24. But if you're eager, you can catch it from 6pm on their website, ARD Mediathek, or YouTube

This initiative aims to reach the 17 million adults in Germany who read and write German on a fourth-grade level. It’s a great step toward ensuring everyone has access to well-researched information about politics, economics, sports and culture.

This service, alongside other accessible options like sign language, is part of Tagesschau’s mission to provide everyone with vital news. So, whether you’re brushing up on your German or just looking for easy-to-understand news, Tagesschau in Einfacher Sprache is worth checking out.

Keep Olympic Park walkways clear

E-Scooter

Summer events are heating up, and so is the need for safe and orderly e-scooter parking. The Mobility Department has swooped in with new storage areas for your micro mobility gadgets.

Got an event to attend? The Olympic Park now features designated parking spots for e-scooters, bikes and scooters at key locations like Birnauer Straße and Connollystraße.

These spots help keep walkways clear and safe, especially for those who are mobility-impaired or visually impaired. Plus, during the Tollwood Summer Festival, temporary parking areas have popped up on Ackermannstraße to handle the extra traffic.

To curb drunk riding, e-scooter providers are rolling out reaction tests in their apps from 5pm to 3am. Pass the test, and you're good to go. Remember, the same alcohol limits apply as if you were driving a car, so ride responsibly and enjoy the summer fun.

Bonus

We’d like to thank our secondary sponsor specially for parents and kids in Munich.

Isaac and John, 13-year-old twins, launched an agriculture gardening business, generating $800 in sales (and growing).

Launchpad turns 9-13 year-olds into CEOs of their own company, guiding them from idea to $500 in revenue. These aren’t pity sales — this is real revenue from real businesses, solving real problems.

Launchpad is like YC for kiddos. Space is limited. Now available in German-friendly timings too.
