3 bits of news

TikTok moves into Munich

Big news for Munich’s retail scene, TikTok is setting up shop.

Literally. The global platform just kicked off hiring for its Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT) division in Germany, starting right here in our city.

The goal? Handle everything from storage to shipping for sellers directly through TikTok.

After testing the waters in Asia, the UK and the US, TikTok is going all-in on Europe. Germany joins the expansion plan with future launches also headed to Amsterdam, Paris and Milan.

For local businesses, this could mean faster shipping and more reach—minus the logistics headache.

Champions festival takes over

Even if you didn’t snag a ticket to the Champions League final, you’ve still got front-row seats to the fun.

From May 29 to June 1, Olympia Park turns into the heart of all things football with the UEFA Champions Festival and yes, admission is totally free.

We’re talking football fields to play on, DJs, concerts, a public viewing of the final (May 31 at 9pm), and over 30 acts including orchestras and artists.

Plus, if you’re lucky, you might snap a selfie with the Champions League trophy itself.

Just next door at SAP Garden, don’t miss the UEFA Ultimate Champions Legends Tournament on May 30. Icons like Kaka, Figo, and Seedorf take the field again in a match that’s more nostalgia than competition.

Can’t make it to Olympia Park? On May 31 you check out the fan hotspots at Odeonsplatz and Königsplatz. Expect food, music and major vibes with fans from all over the world.

Need to park and charge? Try going up

Squeezed for space and low on charging points? Munich’s newest parking tower might just be the answer.

Opened this week in Werksviertel-Mitte, the VePa parking tower fits 12 cars plus charging stations on just 49 square meters.

Developed by VePa, a local startup out of Munich’s UnternehmerTUM program, the system works like an old-school Paternoster elevator, only now it’s lifting cars.

No digging, no fuss—and easy to take down or move. And yep, it’s right near Ostbahnhof, perfect if you’re heading into the city or just need a top-up for your EV.

Queensland choir performs live

Ready for a midweek treat that won’t cost a thing?

This Wednesday, April 16, the talented students from St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School in Queensland, Australia are bringing their sound to Munich live at Künstlerhaus am Lenbachplatz from 7:30 to 8:30pm.

No ticket needed, just register and show up.

We’re talking choir harmonies, full band pieces and rich string performances, all packed into one hour.

These young musicians are stopping in Munich as part of their European tour, and trust us, this isn’t your average school recital.

You’ll hear everything from classics like Vivaldi and Bach to modern works by composers like Audrey Snyder and Matt Conaway. The evening includes pieces from the school’s choir, band, and strings, offering a wide range of genres and moods.

Talk to AI

If you’ve ever wanted to ask a robot for museum tips, now’s your chance.

The Deutsches Museum just opened the Future Box in its Forum of the Future, and it’s not your average exhibit. You’re guided by AI-ME (say it like “Amy”), a glowing, chatty artificial intelligence who’s part tour guide, part science fan.

During a 75 to 90-minute tour, you and a small group (max 16 people) explore two theme rooms filled with wild tech, think humanoid robots, virtual hearts and even satellite fire-spotters.

It’s science you can touch, question and even challenge.

AI-ME doesn’t just explain stuff—she listens too.

Place a 3D-printed cube on a sensor, and AI-ME will tell you what it is. Still got questions? Just speak into the mic. You might get a perfect answer or a slightly confused one, which is part of the fun.

If you’re curious about quantum computing or just want to experience how future tech feels, this tour is a playful, hands-on way to explore big ideas.

Bonus: it’s built for real humans, not just techies.

1 new restaurant/café to try

Terra Bar

So, imagine this: you walk into a bar, order a cocktail and instead of the usual shake-and-stir drama, your drink comes straight from a bottle—and it’s fantastic.

Welcome to Terra Bar, Germany’s first-ever bottled cocktail bar, tucked into the cozy corner of Baaderstraße.

Every drink here is crafted ahead of time by the founders’ own label, BOCO.

The result? High-quality cocktails with way less wait.

We’re talking silky foam, bold flavors and zero compromise even without the clinking ice and showy wrist action.

What’s more, the Terra team pairs these drinks with small vegan bites—shoutout to the Gordita con Tinga Vegana, a total sleeper hit. Drinks start at €10.50 and max out at €15.50, with food in the same range.

Do try the Blue Boy or the Whiskey Sour. And if you’re off booze, the house sodas with rosemary and sage still bring that elevated flavor game.
