Munich sets new property tax rate
Big changes are coming for Munich property owners. The city council has adopted a new property tax statute with a levy rate of 824% (it is currently at 535%) for both Property Tax A and B.
The reform aims to be revenue-neutral, but it might shift the tax burden for some. Notifications are set to hit the owner's mailbox in January 2025, so keep an eye out. Property tax increases may hit tenants too, as landlords can pass on the costs
Not sure what this means for you?
The city treasury will calculate your new tax based on your property tax assessment amount and the levy rate.
For questions, a dedicated call center will open in January. But double-check your assessment notice now. Make sure all the details, like land and living area, are correct.
If you’re still missing your assessment notice, now is the time to contact the tax office.

The PaketPost area, currently a business zone, is being transformed into a vibrant residential and business district, complete with apartments, offices, cultural spaces, and even the city’s highest beer garden.
