3 bits of news
Skip traffic, use park+ride

Tired of circling around for parking in Munich, only to give up and pray for a miracle spot?
Enter Park+Ride—the perfect solution for avoiding traffic jams and parking drama. Drive to the city’s outskirts, park your car, and hop on public transport for a smooth, stress-free ride into the heart of Munich.
Just remember, parking isn’t free, but it’s a small price to pay for sanity.
Need to park for more than a day?
Head to the Fröttmaning or Messestadt Ost parking lots, where you can leave your car and enjoy your time in the city without worrying about a tow or ticket.
Five test sites, including Michaelibad and Studentenstadt, are set up with parking for both cars and bikes. And if you don’t own a bike, no worries—rent one on-site and pedal away.

Swap & Save with circulation cabinet

Munich has big plans, folks. The city aims to be climate neutral by 2035, and the administration is speeding ahead, aiming for 2030.
What does this mean for you?
Cleaner air, less noise and fewer exhaust fumes. Think of it as a healthier, quieter version of the city we all love, with better air quality and a boost to public health.
So, if you’re a fan of breathing fresh air and enjoying quieter streets, this is good news. Plus, it's one step closer to making our city a model of sustainability for the world.
Got too much stuff? Enter the Circulation Cabinet—a magical resource-saving way to clean out your home while giving your unwanted items a new life.
Starting this autumn, the Circulation Cabinet will be touring Munich’s city libraries, offering residents the chance to drop off or pick up functional, everyday items—no books or clothes allowed, though.
Don’t need that old tray? Someone else does. Been searching for a picture frame for the kitchen? You might just find it here. The cabinet stays in each library for six weeks, so make sure to check out the schedule here and start decluttering sustainably.
Munich’s garbage championship returns
This Friday (September 20), millions of people across the globe will join forces for World Cleanup Day, the world’s largest environmental movement.
In 2023, 19 million people in over 190 countries pitched in, setting an example for a clean and waste-free future. Now, it’s Munich’s turn to shine. Learn more about all clean-ups in Munich here (in German).
Think you’ve got what it takes to be Munich’s next Garbage Champion? On Saturday (September 21), districts across the city will battle it out to see who can collect the most trash. Last year, 400 residents from 16 districts joined in—this year, we’re aiming for even more.
Grab your gloves, gather your friends and let’s clean up our streets, parks, rivers, and forests. Every little bit helps!
The winning teams score 30 vouchers and a hiking cleanup trip in the Bavarian mountains. Just show up at your district’s meeting point with gloves and bags. Or, if you're feeling ambitious, why not organize your own team and go for gold?

Oktoberfest 2024

It’s that time of year again—the weather is temperamental, the Tracht are out in the shops and Oktoberfest is just around the corner.
Starting this Saturday (September 21) through Sunday, October 6, Munich’s 189th Wiesn will be packed with exciting events. You could start by watching the grand entry of the Wiesnwirte (beer tent owners) on opening day or enjoying the traditional Trachten- und Schützenzug (costume and marksmen’s parade) this Sunday (September 22).
Don’t miss the Wiesn-Anstich (the official tapping of the keg), the square concert (Platzkonzert der Wiesnwirte) on Sunday, September 29, and of course, the fireworks display on the last day.
And with all the bus and tram diversions due to parades, you might want to stick to the underground. But don’t worry, MVG has you covered with plenty of connections to make sure you get to your beer quickly and efficiently.

1 new restaurant/café to try
Sauvage
If you’re on the hunt for a restaurant that will impress both your taste buds and your Instagram feed, look no further than Sauvage. Located near Sendlinger Tor at Oberanger 28, this Asian fusion spot serves up some of the best vegan dishes you’ll find in Munich.
Think red curries that will make you question every other curry you've ever had and drinks like the refreshing red lemonade or a pineapple coconut blend that’s basically a tropical vacation in a glass. Sauvage’s mix of French and Vietnamese flavors is the kind of fusion that makes you go back for seconds (and thirds, honestly).
And let’s talk about the ambiance—it’s like stepping into the golden ‘20s, with elegant touches from the stucco walls to the beautifully designed menus. It’s cozy yet sophisticated, perfect for a date night or a special occasion.

📍 Oberanger 28, 80331 München
