3 bits of news
Out with the old
We all have that one broken chair or half of a lamp we keep meaning to get rid of. Now’s your chance.
AWM is rolling out Neighborhood Days with temporary drop-off spots set up right in your area for bulky trash you no longer need.
It’s easy, free, and walkable. No hauling stuff across town.
The next few dates are already set, and they rotate across districts like Schwabing-West, Milbertshofen-Am Hart, and Bogenhausen.
Just swing by between 9am and 2pm.
What You Can Drop Off
•Old furniture, carpets, mattresses, scrap wood
•Small electronics and worn-out clothes (max 2 bags per person)
What You Can’t Drop Off
•Fridges, washing machines, construction waste
•Hazardous items like paint, oil, or batteries
And if you’ve got things that are too good to toss, the Halle 2 second hand crew will be there to collect clean, usable stuff for donation or resale.

Chip giant picks our city
One of the biggest names in tech is moving in.
TSMC, the world’s largest contract chipmaker, just announced it’s opening a European Design Center right here in Munich. The center is set to launch in late 2025 and will focus on developing energy-efficient, high-performance chips for cars, industry, AI, and smart devices.
Why Munich?
According to TSMC, it’s all about the talent. The city’s skilled workforce and close ties to companies like Infineon made it the obvious choice. They want people on-site, working face-to-face with local partners.
TSMC is already building a $10 billion plant in Dresden to handle European manufacturing needs. Now, with the design brains based in Munich, we’re officially part of the global semiconductor scene.

Big tent, big plans
Walk past Ostpark this summer and you might do a double take.
That huge dome-shaped tent? Not your imagination. It’s called the Geodome, and it’s about to bring a full season of circus fun, dance, and creative workshops right into Neuperlach.
After sitting unused for years, the city’s Geodome is finally getting its moment. From now through the end of summer, Munich Circus Arts is running shows, training, and classes for all ages—no experience necessary!
Some events are free, others low-cost, and weekends will be full of performances.

Bug hunt at the garden

Ever taken a picture of a shiny beetle and thought, “Wow, this is kinda fun”?
Well, from June 14 to 22, you’ve got an excuse to do just that. The Bioblitz at the Munich-Nymphenburg Botanical Garden is back, and it’s part nature walk, part photo challenge.
Here’s how it works. You explore the open field area (skip the greenhouses), find wild animals, plants, fungi, or even animal tracks, and upload your snaps to the free app iNaturalist. Yes, feathers and snail shells count too.
If you’re new, check out one of the guided tours like the animal spotting walk on June 16 or the kids’ adventure tour on June 18. There’s even a discovery station on June 21 with free magnifying glasses and booklets for kids.
There are prizes too. Best photo? Most observations? The garden with the most variety? Winners will be announced in September.

1 new restaurant/café to try
RivaReno Gelato

We’ve tried a lot of ice cream. Some good, some meh, and some that tasted like freezer burn.
But RivaReno in Glockenbach? This one’s worth the hype. No gimmicks. Just smooth, creamy scoops made from real ingredients, no junk added.
And yes, it’s €3.90 for two scoops. In Munich. In 2025.
Here, the gelato lives in sleek steel cylinders with lids. That keeps it creamy without drowning it in sugar.
Their sorbets are made with up to 70% fresh fruit. We’re talking raspberry, strawberry, passion fruit, mango. The kind of stuff that doesn’t need extra anything to taste amazing.
