3 bits of news

Germany’s workers want out

We've got a problem, and it's bigger than you might think. One in four immigrants living in Germany is seriously considering leaving the country.

That's 2.6 million people who could walk away from the jobs we desperately need them to fill.

About 300,000 immigrants already have concrete plans to leave Germany. These aren't just any workers either. We're talking about the doctors keeping our hospitals running, the IT specialists powering our digital economy, and the engineers building our future.

The very people Germany recruited to solve its labor shortage are now looking for the exit door.

What's driving them away? It's not just homesickness. Sky-high taxes, endless bureaucracy and growing discrimination are pushing skilled workers toward countries like Switzerland, Spain and even the US.

The timing couldn't be worse. Germany needs 400,000 new immigrants annually just to maintain its workforce as the population ages.

Find info about it here, here (in German) and here (in English).

Bahnhofsviertel's new jewel

Something spectacular is happening at the corner of Schwanthaler and Goethestraße. The Stack is transforming from a construction site to architectural marvel.

Right now, workers are installing 369 custom-made glass elements that will create the building's signature stacked appearance. Each piece comes from a specialist company in Heidelberg, and together they're creating a facade that plays with light and shadow in ways that will make your Instagram followers jealous.

The first tenants move in next year, and they're big names. Pharmaceutical giant Novartis is relocating here after their previous deal fell through.

Even more impressive, international law firm Quinn Emanuel is setting up shop. You know, the lawyers who represent Elon Musk. Plus, there's a 1,200-square-meter rooftop garden and 15,000 plants adorning the facade.

This green oasis will actually improve air quality in our concrete-heavy city center.

Ever wonder what happens to all those phones, laptops, and random items left behind on Munich's buses, trams, and U-Bahn?

The MVG is hosting a massive online auction next Wednesday, June 25, and the catalog reads like a tech lover's dream mixed with a mystery novel.

We're talking digital cameras, headphones, laptops, jewelry, clothing, and those intriguing “surprise suitcases” packed by MVG staff.

The auction starts at 11am and runs live online, so you can bid from your couch.

You can check out the goods beforehand at the MVG lost property office on Elsenheimerstraße until next Tuesday, June 24. Payment is bank transfer only, no cash accepted.

Brasserie Colette

Let's talk about the kind of restaurant that makes you feel fancy without trying too hard. Brasserie Colette München just dropped their Steak Frites Summer Special and honestly, it's exactly what we needed for these warm evenings.

For 59 euros, you get three courses that actually make sense together. The Kopfsalatherz with grape and shallot is fresh and light, perfect for summer. Then comes the main event - Steak Frites with Entrecôte and Béarnaise sauce that's rich but not heavy. The Crème brûlée with strawberry sorbet wraps things up nicely.
